The AFRIMA awards 2017 is one of Africa’s most prestigious awards in the entertainment industry. This year’s award night took place on Sunday night (12/11/2017) at Eko Hotels and Suites. The award night was hosted by Akon. According to a statement by the organizers, the artiste “felt immediately at home in the host city” as fans gathered to catch a glimpse of stardom while the executive producer of AFRIMA, Mike Dada and some members of the international committee of AFRIMA welcomed him to Nigeria.

So many Awards were won, as usual shades were thrown and our very own DMW boss Davido was not exempted. Even after receiving two awards the same night at the MTV EMA’s award night for both Best act Africa and Best act Worldwide (Making him the first Nigerian if not the first African to win the Best act worldwide category), Davido threw shades at AFRIMA for Wizkid taking all awards he also was nominated under. Via his Instagram stories he said; “Worldwide o! Ehh! F*#k that shit! Omo make those ones keep their own, that award wey dey peel, Even the one wey i collect since go don peel finish… My name is David, you cannot play me and get away with it… Boom! 2018, come for your head!”. Was this really necessary?
