TM Ng: If you were asked to pick 3 Nigerian artistes you could work immediately with, who would they be and why?
Muyiwa: Lagbaja – Because he’s a legendary music composer and I know I will learn a whole lot from him.
Cobhams Asuquo – Because everything he touches turns to gold. Would be great to learn at his feet.
Brymo – He’s my mentor, he doesn’t know it yet but he is and he will.
TM Ng: What next after”Come Back”? What should we anticipate from you?
Muyiwa: More great music coming your way, I can assure you that. I’m so tempted to say more but I’ll just leave it at that.
TM Ng: Do you have role models? How do they inspire you?
Muyiwa: They’re so many really and for different reasons. When I see something I like, I try to emulate. There are artistes who I look to in terms of performances, delivery, vocal dexterity and other little details many don’t think are important. Whenever I go for concerts, I usually don’t dance and jump the way others do when the artiste is performing. I simply just stand and watch the performer; I study him/her and take note of vital points. I’m weird like that.
TM Ng: What will you categorize your sound as?
Muyiwa: I don’t think there’s a category for it. The goal is to be as unique as possible.
